I was at rest in my house, flourishing in my palace I saw a dream which made me afraid The thoughts on my bed and visions troubled me Therefore I made a decree to bring in all the wise men
Belteshazzar, master of the magicians The spirit of the holy gods is in you Tell me the visions of my dream And its interpretation
These were the visions of my head on my bed I saw a tree in the middle of the earth Its height was great, it grew and was strong Its sight reached to the end of all the earth
A holy watcher came down from the sky Cut down the tree, cut off its branches Shake off its leaves, scatter its fruit Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots
This is the interpretation, O king It is the decree of the Most High You will be driven from men Your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field
Seven times shall pass over you Until you know that the Most High rules In the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you
At the end of the days, I lifted up my eyes to heaven My understanding returned to me I blessed the Most High I praised and honoured him who lives forever
For his dominion is an everlasting dominion His kingdom from generation to generation All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing He does according to his will
