Lyrics

As I sat in my house The elders of Judah sat before me The Lord God’s hand fell on me there

I saw a likeness as the appearance of fire From his waist downward fire From his waist upward brightness as glowing metal He stretched out the form of a hand He took me by a lock of my head

The Spirit lifted me up Between earth and the sky Brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem To the door of the gate of the inner court

The glory of the God of Israel was there According to the appearance that I saw in the plain Do you see what they do The great abominations

The house of Israel commit here That I should go far off from my sanctuary He brought me to the door of the court I saw a hole in the wall I saw every form of creeping things

Abominable animals and all the idols Portrayed around on the wall Seventy men of the elders stood before them Every man with his censer in his hand The smell of the cloud of incense went up

In the dark every man in his rooms of imagery They say the LORD doesn’t see us The LORD has forsaken the land At the door of the gate women sat there Weeping for Tammuz

Twenty-five men with their backs towards the temple Their faces towards the east They were worshipping the sun towards the east Is it a light thing that they commit here

They have filled the land with violence Turned again to provoke me to anger My eye won’t spare neither will I have pity Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice
