Lyrics
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia The LORD stirred up his spirit That the word by Jeremiah might be accomplished
Cyrus made a proclamation throughout his kingdom And put it also in writing, saying The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all kingdoms And he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem
Whoever is amongst you of all his people May his God be with him Let him go up to Jerusalem And build the house of the LORD
Whoever is left in any place where he lives Let the men of his place help him With silver, with gold, with goods
Go up to Jerusalem Go up to Jerusalem Build the house of the LORD The God of Israel
The heads of fathers’ households rose up All whose spirit God had stirred to go up And all those who were around them strengthened their hands With silver and with gold and with precious things
Cyrus brought out the vessels of the LORD’s house That were taken from Jerusalem Even those he brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer Counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah
Go up to Jerusalem Go up to Jerusalem Build the house of the LORD The God of Israel
Sheshbazzar brought all these up When the captives were brought up from Babylon To Jerusalem
