Lyrics

Israel is an empty vine He brings forth fruit to himself

According to the abundance of his fruit he has made many altars According to the goodness of his land they have made goodly pillars Their heart is divided, now they will be found guilty

The LORD will break down their altars, he will destroy their pillars Surely they will say, We have no king Because we didn’t fear the LORD

The king, what can he do for us They speak mere words, swearing falsely

Judgment springs up as hemlock in the furrows of the field They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind

The stalk has no head, it yields no grain If it should yield, strangers devour it

Israel is swallowed up amongst the nations As a vessel in which no one takes pleasure For they have gone up to Assyria

Ephraim shall return to Egypt Their heart is false towards the LORD I will break the yoke upon his neck No one will make him rest
