Assyria and Egypt close in as Israel’s harvest joy turns to judgment in this 17-verse oracle.
Full sung version coming soon.
Lyrics
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy like the peoples You have been unfaithful to your God
You have loved a harlot’s hire upon every threshing floor The threshing floor and wine press shall not feed them The new wine shall fail in her
They shall not dwell in the LORD’s land Ephraim shall return to Egypt They shall eat unclean things in Assyria
They shall have no wine offering to the LORD Neither shall they be pleasing to him Their bread shall be like mourning bread
All who eat of it shall be polluted Their bread is for themselves It shall not come to the house of the LORD
What will you do in the day of appointed feast In the day of the LORD’s feast Behold, they are gone away from destruction Egypt shall gather them, Memphis shall bury them
The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad For the greatness of your iniquity The enmity is great
Ephraim watched the birds, but now they shall fly away I will cast them out of my house I will love them no more All their princes are rebels
