A ruined linen belt buried by the Euphrates becomes the LORD’s sign against the pride of Judah in this 27 verse prophecy of coming captivity.
Full sung version coming soon.
Lyrics
The Lord said to me Go and buy a linen belt Put it on your waist But don’t put it in water
So I bought a belt according to the Lord’s word And put it on my waist Then the Lord’s word came to me the second time Go to the Euphrates and hide it there
So I went and hid it by the Euphrates As the Lord commanded me Many days later the Lord said to me Go to the Euphrates and take the belt that I commanded you
So I went to the Euphrates and dug And took the belt from the place where I had hidden it Behold the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing
As the belt clings to the loins of a man So I have caused the whole house of Israel And the whole house of Judah to cling to me That they might be to me a people and a name And a praise and a glory
Say to them all the wine jars are to be filled with wine Every bottle will be filled with wine Behold I will fill all the inhabitants of this land With drunkenness
Therefore hear the word of the Lord Give glory to the Lord your God Before he causes darkness And before your feet stumble on the dark mountains
The Lord will scatter them like chaff That is driven by the wind into the wilderness This is your lot, the portion that I have measured From the Lord because you have forgotten me
And trusted in falsehood
