Lyrics
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord Arise and go down to the potter’s house And there I will cause you to hear my words
Then I went down to the potter’s house And behold he was making a work on the wheel And the vessel that he made of clay Was marred in the hand of the potter
So he made it again another vessel As seemed good to the potter to make it Then the word of the Lord came to me saying O house of Israel cannot I do with you as this potter
Behold as the clay in the potter’s hand So are you in my hand O house of Israel At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation
To pluck up and to break down and to destroy it If that nation turns from their evil I will repent of the evil that I thought to do
And at what instant I shall speak Concerning a nation and kingdom To build and to plant it If it does that which is evil in my sight
Then I will repent of the good That I said I would do to it But if they harden their hearts Against the voice of the Lord
Then I will break them as a potter’s vessel That cannot be made whole again They have turned their backs to me And not their faces
