Lyrics
Go down to the house of the king of Judah And speak there this word Hear the word of the Lord O king of Judah
Thus says the Lord Do justice and righteousness and deliver him Who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor Don’t wrong or do violence to the foreigner
The fatherless or the widow And don’t shed innocent blood in this place If you will do this thing indeed Then will there enter in at the gates
Of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David Riding in chariots and on horses He and his servants and his people But if you will not hear these words
I swear by myself says the Lord That this house will become a desolation For this city I have set against this house For the wickedness of the son of Josiah
Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness And his chambers by injustice Who uses his neighbour’s service without wages And gives him not his hire
Jehoiakim will be given into the hand Of those who seek his life Into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon And into the hand of the Chaldeans
They will cast you out and the woman That bore you into another country Where you were not born and there you will die This man will no more be had
As a vessel wherein is no pleasure For I have rejected him
