Lyrics
The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord After Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard Had let him go from Ramah When he took him being bound in chains
Amongst all the captives of Jerusalem And Judah that were carried away to Babylon The captain of the guard took Jeremiah And said to him the Lord your God declared
This evil upon this place And the Lord has brought it about And done as he said Because you sinned against the Lord
And obeyed not his voice Therefore this thing has come upon you Now behold I loose you this day From the chains that were on your hand
If it seems good to you to come with me To Babylon come and I will look well after you But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon Stay here The whole land is before you
Whither it seems good and right for you to go Go there For Gedaliah the son of Ahikam Has been made governor over the land
And dwell with him amongst the people Or go wherever it seems right to you So the captain of the guard gave him An allowance and a gift and let him go
Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah And dwelt with him amongst the people
