In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity In the beginning of the year the hand of the LORD came on me He brought me in the visions of God to the land of Israel
Set me on a very high mountain on which was as it were The frame of a city on the south A man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze With a line of flax and a measuring reed in his hand He was standing in the gate
The man said to me son of man Behold with your eyes and hear with your ears All that I shall show you for you are brought here That I may show it to you Declare all that you see to the house of Israel
And behold a wall on the outside of the house all around The length of the reed in the man’s hand was six cubits Each cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth So he measured the thickness of the wall one reed And the height one reed
Then he came to the gate which looks towards the east He went up its steps and measured the threshold of the gate One reed broad and the other threshold one reed broad
And the little chambers were one reed long And one reed broad and between the little chambers Were five cubits and the threshold of the gate By the porch of the gate from the inside was one reed
He measured the porch of the gate Eight cubits and the posts thereof two cubits The porch of the gate was on the inside
And there were windows to the little chambers And to the posts within the gate all around And likewise to the porches were windows round about inward And upon each post were palm trees
Thus he measured the gate the entrance fifty cubits wide The breadth of the gate twenty-five cubits The porch of the gate opened to the inner court
