Ebed-melech was an Ethiopian eunuch serving in the royal court of King Zedekiah who showed compassion to the imprisoned prophet Jeremiah. When Jeremiah was cast into a muddy cistern, Ebed-melech organized his rescue, and God rewarded his faithfulness with a promise of deliverance when the city fell.
