A fortified city in Judah's lowland that played a role in Joshua's conquest and later held strategic importance during the monarchy. Azekah lay on the route between Jerusalem and the Philistine coast, making it a defensive stronghold. Jeremiah reported that only Azekah and Lachish remained standing as Nebuchadnezzar's forces pressed the final siege of Jerusalem.
